Mike Enzweiler is a partner in DBL Law’s Medical Liability and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice groups. His practice focuses primarily on defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and long-term care facilities against claims of medical negligence. However, Mike also represents individuals and businesses in personal injury and commercial matters.
Mike obtained his J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, where he graduated summa cum laude and finished second in his class. While at Chase, Mike served as a Senior Managing Editor for the Northern Kentucky Law Review and competed on both the Arbitration and Trial Competition Teams. He also worked as an extern for the Honorable William O. Bertelsman in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Prior to attending Chase, Mike obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance at the University of Louisville, where he graduated with Highest Honors and was named the 2012 College of Business Finance Student of the Year. He was a member of the University’s Honors Program and also served as President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Mike first joined DBL Law as a summer associate in May of 2014, and he began his professional practice at the firm’s Northern Kentucky office in the fall of 2015. Mike has since been admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the State of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and various federal district courts.
Mike stays active in the Northern Kentucky community by serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Care Net Pregnancy Services of Northern Kentucky and as a member of the Advisory Board for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Covington. Mike is also a member of the St. Elizabeth Foundation Young Patron’s Guild, and he volunteers as a solicitor for the Diocese of Covington’s Alliance for Catholic Urban Education (ACUE) appeal. Mike is a 2022 graduate of Leadership Northern Kentucky.
Mike furthers his professional development by serving on the Board of Directors of Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc., an organization of civil defense lawyers. Mike is also a member of the Salmon P. Chase American Inn of Court.
A Northern Kentucky native and graduate of Newport Central Catholic, Mike resides in Wilder with his wife, daughter, and two sons.

Appellate Decisions
- Affirmance of summary judgment by the Kentucky Supreme Court in a case involving allegedly negligent maneuvering of a wheelchair against a DBL hospital client. Saint Elizabeth Med. Ctr., Inc. v. Arnsperger, 686 S.W.3d 132 (Ky. 2024).
- Affirmance of judgment on the pleadings by the Kentucky Court of Appeals on statute of limitations grounds. Cooper v. St. Elizabeth Med. Ctr., 2023 Ky. App. Unpub. LEXIS 553 (Ky. App. 2023).
Trial Court Results
- Defense verdict on behalf of a DBL hospital client in a wrongful death case alleging failure to treat atrial fibrillation. The Plaintiff sought $1 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The jury returned a defense verdict in favor of DBL’s client.
- Summary judgment on behalf of a hospital in a case alleging wrongful death to a minor and emotional distress to the parents.
- Successful defense of a challenge to a hospital’s COVID-19 vaccination policy. Beckerich v. St. Elizabeth Med. Ctr., 563 F. Supp. 3d 633 (E.D. Ky. 2021).
- Partial summary judgment on behalf of a hospital in a case alleging wrongful imprisonment and statutory violations, followed by voluntary dismissal of the remaining claims without payment.
- Partial summary judgment on behalf of a hospital in a case alleging wrongful imprisonment and wrongful invocation of the duty to warn, which facilitated a favorable resolution.
- Partial summary judgment on behalf of nursing home in a case alleging wrongful death and neglect, which facilitated a favorable resolution.
