Nickolaus is an associate attorney in DBL’s Estate Planning and Probate practice group. He joined DBL Law in February 2023, and is based in the firm’s Cincinnati, downtown office. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Kentucky, and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio.
He advises clients in establishing an estate plan: including trusts, wills, living wills, and power of attorney documents. Nickolaus has extensive experience in probate issues and represents clients in various probate matters, including estate administration and litigation, trust administration, guardianships, and name changes. His practice also includes representing clients in qualifying for Medicaid, preserving client’s claims in a decedent’s estate, real estate, as well as business incorporation and formation.
Nickolaus attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and graduated with a B.S. in International Studies in 2015, while minoring in Chinese and German. While at Miami he was member of a social fraternity Chi Psi and served as Alumni Chair. He later attended the University of Toledo, College of Law after being awarded the Dean’s Full-Tuition Merit Scholarship and graduated in 2020. At Toledo he served as President for the Business Law Society, Secretary for Delta Theta Phi, and was a Moot Court Competitor. He also participated in the Toledo Tax Controversy Clinic where he managed client’s tax disputes with the IRS, represented taxpayers involved with IRS audits, appeals, and collection matters.
Nickolaus is a proud Cincinnati native, Moeller Alumnus, and Miami Merger. He and his wife reside in Clermont County with their daughter.
