Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden has named DBL Law attorney Katie Tranter to its Ambassador Council.
The Ambassador Council was formed in 2009 to engage young professionals throughout the region to support the mission, vision and values of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The primary responsibility of the Ambassador Council is to champion future generations of the Zoo and ensure the Zoo serves our children and our children’s children for decades to come.
This has taken on many different initiatives in the past and will continue to grow into the future as the Zoo evolves. Over the past ten years, the Ambassador Council has:
• Hosted Zoo La La, an annual spring fundraising event which supports the Zoo’s Education Department, including the Living Classroom Education Access Fund, providing free field trips to schools in need. In nine years, over $1.3 million dollars has been raised through this event.
• Worked with local schools to recycle cell phones which contain coltan, a metallic ore that is mined in endangered habitats in Africa which causes gorillas to be displaced or poached due to the destruction of their homes.
• Conducted donor club membership drives to bring in new Zoo dollars.
• Contributed to new Zoo habitats and habitat enhancements.
Katie is an attorney in DBL Law’s Cincinnati office, where she practices primarily in Employment Law and Civil Litigation. She earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and earned a Bachelor’s in Business Management degree from Boston College.
She previously served as a trustee for Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky and was a committee member for Girls on the Run. Katie resides with her family in Mt. Lookout.
